Dancing with the Stars Austin was an amazing experience for an even more amazing cause, the Child Protection Agency. The first-place winners were Vaughn Brock and his professional partner, Taletha Jouzdani, with a Blues Brothers routine. Second place went to Kumara Wilcoxon with a sexy Latin/salsa routine, and third place went to Jackie Rado Mooney with a very cool East Coast swing dance!
I learned you can practice your dance routine all year long and have your routine down to a T, but when that spotlight shines on you in front of a 1,000-plus people, it becomes a whole new ball game. Your mouth dries up like cement and you come to the blunt realization that you are wearing a Batman mask in front of a huge audience.
Bottom line, it was a blast. I learned how to jive, cha cha and can now flip girls when I go dancing. Priceless. After we all did our dances, they opened the dance floor for everyone to dance and, by far, that was the best part of the night for me because I was able to dance with the most amazing woman in my life, my mom.
